Man Shoots Neighbors Kills 5 Family Members with an Assault Rifle

Another day another mass shooting. This time it was a person who was firing a gun in his backyard. The neighbors complained and 5, including a child, were murdered. People are shooting people for no particular reason. Too many individuals are powder kegs who have a gun are willing to use them.

Head of Police Chief’s Association: Congress needs to Act on Passing Gun Legislation

Chief Dwight Henninger, President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, appearing on CNN, called for Congress to act now to pass comprehensive gun legislation. ‘Thoughts and prayers’ isn’t going to cut anymore, Henninger stated. Strengthening the background check system would be essential to any meaningful gun legislation enactment. He also argued that other countries like Britain and Australia have successfully changed their gun laws, why can’t we. Henninger also made a statement that might offend gun rights advocates, like the NRA: The 2nd Amendment is not absolute.

Mexico sues U.S. gun Manufacturers

Excellent idea. Most of the guns used to kill hundreds of the innocents in Mexico are obtained in the U.S. By holding gun manufacturers accountable that might make the gun industry hesitant about where their guns go. It worked with the tobacco industry. But it is pathetic that it took a foreign country to do the job that should be done by politicians in America. They won’t do it since they’ve been bought off by the gun lobby–both parties:

The Mexican government sued United States gun manufacturers and distributors Wednesday in U.S. federal court, arguing that their negligent and illegal commercial practices have unleashed tremendous bloodshed in Mexico.

The unusual lawsuit was filed in U.S. federal court in Boston. Among those being sued are some of the biggest names in guns, including: Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc.; Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc.; Beretta U.S.A. Corp.; Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC, and Glock Inc. Another defendant is Interstate Arms, a Boston-area wholesaler that sells guns from all but one of the named manufacturers to dealers around the U.S.

Those guns going over the border are devastating Mexico:

In a country that has suffered more than a decade of violence at the hands of powerful drug cartels, the situation in Zacatecas, as well as violence-plagued states like Michoacán and Tamaulipas, shows that neither the head-on drug war launched by former President Felipe Calderón in 2006, nor the softer “hugs not bullets” approach of current President Andrés Manuel López Obrador have managed to break Mexico’s cycle of violence.

Houston mom Shot son while Aiming at escaped Puppy

Another example of the many times guns are used for ‘self defense’ that end up harming the wrong person:

A Houston mother accidentally shot her 5-year-old son while trying to fire at a puppy that got loose in her neighborhood, police said.

Cops responded Saturday and found the child struck in the abdomen by a ricocheting bullet, Houston police said Tuesday.

His mother, Angelia Mia Vargas, 24, is facing one count of deadly conduct-discharge of a firearm in the incident that was caught on a doorbell cam.
